My barren & recently moved into living room

Hi all!
I moved into a new place about 2 months ago. I'm in love with the space, I'm just also terrible at decorating. I normally prefer a more minimal look, but some shelves for book displays are good too. Ive got a good number of the collector style books that barnes and nobles does of classic titles. and other small things i'd like to display. too many shelves starts to feel cluttered quickly to me.

my main goal for the space is to keep an open and light feel, but not be so... barren. my thought was mirrors on the empty wall maybe?

I'm not a fan or warm colors- I'm trying to keep a cool color palette through the place. ( last place has smothered in this warm boring brown - never again... )

as for the couch, its from Lovesac, so its modular. (thats why there is that strange gap in the back of it. I'm looking at adding 1 base and 2-3? sides. I also have a brown color covers for it.

Also looking for good lighting ideas. It's an apartment so I can't do major modifications - but any interesting ways to handle lighting in such a tall room would be appreciated.

I'm not against painting or DIY- i have moderate diy skill level, just no real space for saws or bigger builds I can sew (sort of) and do some basic carpentry like simple benches I also kill any plant I look at, but my partner keeps trying so, plants are a possibility.

the bar stools are super temporary and are fold up for extra seating once we find perfect ones.

including supplies, furniture, and decor I'd like to stay under $2,000.

From the front door

from the patio door

from the hallway

from the corner by the TV

layout

and with that, help me design :)
