Hello! Any assistance with designing this room would be much appreciated.
This is the den of the house we just moved into. We’re in the states (Ohio), for reference.
As far as budget goes, we don’t have a specific number in mind but we know a few specifics. We’ll be getting new furniture, we’re open to painting the room, and we’ll be removing the carpet and probably replacing it with tile (there’s a hot tub outside the sliding door so I think tile makes the most sense).
Other important thoughts about this design:
There’s a fireplace on the back wall, but we don’t plan on using it.
We’re big boys and most of our friends are big boys as well so sturdy and durable furniture is ideal. I want this room to be comfy and relaxing, most of all. We need to seat a minimum of five people, too.
Also, these photos are from right when we moved in, and a few things are different now. The weird curtain over the door at the bottom of the steps is gone. Also, the glass panels next to the stairs are gone as is the wood paneling on that back wall, both replaced with drywall painted white.
We won’t be doing much, if any, DIY work on this one (aside from maybe painting).
The stairs lead up to the living room. We’re about to have the kitchen renovated, so we’ll have an open living room / kitchen / dining room with light gray cabinets above, a blue island, whitish countertops (with gray streaks, most likely), subway tile backsplash, and faux wood tiling (a little on the darker side, but not very dark).
A final note – we’re very into low maintenance stuff. For example, we’re getting flat-face cabinets without any panels/recesses/etc so there will be one less nook and cranny to try to keep clean.
I hope that’s not too much info, but if you have any other questions, let me know. Thanks everyone!
